No one is around
And I remember
The night I threw it away
Tipped this axis off centre
In the darkness now
A dance in stone
The swirling of this solitude
A pirouette alone

I reach an arm out
Wrap it around the void
Gently lean my body into
This cold, this space that I destroyed
The music swells now
Its claws take hold in my mind
The pulse is poison in my blood
I'm beaten, I'm snow blind

This bitter dancefloor of our home
This empty space, we dance no more
This dance, these steps, these lonely twirls
I call The Last Man in the World

The last man on earth
And the last dance on earth
I'm the last man on earth
The last one

Thing is, walking is a more stable state than standing
So my stance is: dancing’s the bomb
You see nothing really happens until someone really moves
When they’re no longer beholden to good old gravity’s rules/ groove
It strengthens the bond between you and me
And stronger the bond from the heart to the feet
Hear the scuff and squeak of the soles of my feet
As they thunder on repeat
As they underpin the beat
Hear the squeak and the scuff from my feet to my heart
An empty space transformed into true kinetic
art
Gotta fill yourself with chaos to give birth to a star
With that energy, with that movement, let’s blow ourselves apart
Pour myself across the sweet spots of the melody
That until this moment were never truly free
So, the poet is not the actual  poem, you see
But the dancer, the dancer is the dance

The times we dance throughout the night
Those darkened rooms we filled with light
That dance, those steps, these loving twirls
I called The First Man in the World
